So where am I going with all of this...? Well, originally I was going to do a simple post about about the benefits of the "Fair Tax" for the real estate industry and home ownership. Obviously I have already digressed from that. One day I will get there ... I promise.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. No guarantees- just opportunities. The roller coaster of life can sometimes be a wild or scary ride. Personally I have ridden the highs and lows, taken some fast curves, and there are times when I just wanted to puke. But all of those times, both good and not so good, are part of the fabric that makes me who I am today. Sometimes it was not fun, sometimes downright painful, but where the scars are I am stronger. I do not want a government that tries to guarantee happiness for individuals or business. I want a government that allows every person and every business an equal opportunity to succeed or fail.

What else needs to be said besides ^^^^^. Too many laws and regulations and so on and so forth.
This is Friday the 13th. Perfect day for the passage of this historic socialist package that will change America in one day as we know it.
David - So where do we start? There are so many zeros that i can't do the math. I think my family of 6 is going in to debt by about $180,000 as of today?

This is a great post. I think so many people yelled 'Change!" during the election that ehy didn't realize/take time to learn just what kind of change we're getting- change for the worse. But as a friend of mine said, "We had to have a Carter to get a Reagan." Times are gonna be tough and the government will probably resemble something from 1984, but America is still a great country and we'll prevail in the end, somehow. - Kat
Bob - great commercial for the fair tax, just as in the word equality, fair is used differently by democracy and socialism.
Let me add one more quote, if I may.

Kat- Agreed. I thught we were all supposed to have time to look at this stimulus bill. Wasn't that part of transparency in government?

A valid point. The past admistration, congress, and senate disregarded many of the conservative values that got them elected.
How did this post not get more comments?! These are some very wise words and it's a shame that we are here wondering if we will have those freedoms we once had.
I think the most important thing we can and need to do is to stay educated. We need to stay on top of the news, read REAL news (unbiased from the mainstream garbage), and educate our fellow citizens. The problem isn't all on the government- the problem is we don't know any better. We aren't all in the know abotu what exactly is going on, because if we were, none of this nonsense would be going on. That is why it is vitally important that we gain more knowledge and teach our neighbors and friends. When we have a group of well educated people about the economy, government relations, etc.. then we have power. Power to tell our representatives that we will vote them out of office if they don't start working for us, REALLY working for us!
