How about a dog park?

How about a Dog Park in Powder Springs, Ga?
I  have  heard several people around around Powder Springs mention that they would like us to have a dog park here in the area. This would be a great place to spend some quality outdorr time with our pets. Mayor Vaughn has mentioned that it is being discussed but the location and funding are questionable.  One possibility might be the  at the linear park that the city has proposed along the Silver Comet Trail.

If you live someplace that has a dog park please tell me about it.  How big is it? How was it funded? Who maintains and cleans it?  Anything you can share that would be helpful would be appreciated.

If you live in or around Powder Springs Ga. please share your ides as well.  I'll pass all the information along.

Just to share ... here are pics of our dogs -  Scooby and Miley

What cute dogs you have!!

We have TONS of dog parks in the Seattle area. I think they are paid for and cleaned by the city they are in. The dog owners are also supposed to help clean up Scooby's doo, but other than that, it's pretty much just some trees and rocks and sawdust (at some parks in the area) or just concrete and some metal obstacle courses and "toys" for the dogs to run and play on- so it's easy to maintain and keep clean.

The dog parks are great. I mentioned the one with concrete and obstacle course- that was converted from a homeless drug slum into the really nice dog park. It's nice to see deteriorating areas of the city transformed by just a hang out spot for dogs ;)

Good luck getting your park!

We have several dog parks in Austin. My favorite and my dogs favorite is the one on Town Lake AKA Lake Ladybird downtown.

I have been lobbying to build a dog park on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in the South Bay of Los Angeles. here are some links with information about dogs parks and rules, etc.
