Northern Lights tonight???

Huge solar flair activity yesterday has caused the possibility for "Northern Lights" today!  The flair was so large that airlines are rerouting flights that would normally fly over the arctic.  It would be uncommon but not unheard of to see the lights from here in Ga.  A few months ago there was an Aurora event that was visible from parts of north Ga.  Of course the further north you are the better change you'll have of seeing the lights.

So tonight around sunset take a look to the north.  You might get lucky enough to scratch"see the Northern Lights" off your bucket list!

I just don't think we're gonna see them this far south.  But they are on my bucket list.

I will have to remember to check tonight. There might be a huge number of Nothern Light posts tomorrow. I hope so, since I doubt I will get to see them.

One has to wonder what people who saw this thousands of years ago were thinking...That's how some of today's stories got started. Around campfires a long time ago from people watching things they couldn't understand

I just found this from the university of Alaska Geophysical institute.

Forecast: Auroral activity will be high. Weather permitting, highly active auroral displays will be visible overhead from Inuvik, Yellowknife, Rankin and Igaluit to Juneau, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and Sept-Iles, and visible low on the horizon from Seattle, Des Moines, Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, and Halifax.

Bold is mine. The forecast is subject to change.

So all you folks in the north take a look!
