12 months after the great flood...

After the floods, 12 months later...

12 months ago today this area of Georgia was hit by the worst flooding in history.  It was called severe, epic, a 500 year flood.  No matter how it is described, the devastation was horrific. Many of the victims have rebuilt and moved back in to their homes.  However many of the homes are vacant and the home owners still displaced.  A friend of mine is still in negotiations with Cobb County and FEMA.  They are supposed to be buying his house from him but a year later it is still not concluded.

As you can see from the photos taken today there are still many houses waiting on a settlement.  Many homeowners just walked away from their homes.

Here are a few photos that I took today, Sept. 22, 2010

This is too sad.  We see it all around us.  Sometimes if the community would come in and help with remodeling, then it would help raise all the property values in area.

Even if it is something as small as mowing the lawn and trimming the shrubs.
