Dear Congress, Please Vote yes to raise my energy bill!

To my representative in Congress,

I am writing or calling you today to encourage you to vote for HR 2454,  the Waxman- Markey energy bill. With an average cost per household of only $1500 per year this legislation is a real bargain. In these booming economic times I'm sure that every one of your constituents will be glad to pay alittle bit extra for a tank of gas and their monthly electric or gas bill.  Of course every thing that we purchase that uses electricity from light bulbs to lawnmowers to automobiles will cost a little extra as well.  And let's not forget that if by any product that uses energy to be produced (basically everything) will be just a little more expensive.

We know just from last summers spike in gas prices, that an increase in energy costs might cause a few of your constituents to lose their job.  With the job market as strong as it is, these folks should have no problem at finding a new job.  Heck, they'll probably appreciate having some time off to relax. Of course paying for a tank of gas or keeping the lights turned will be easy to pay on those big unemployment checks!

Let's not forget the long term economic benefits of this wonderful legislation.  I can't believe that the Congressional Budget Office didn't even factor in the decrease in GDP. According to the CBO "The resource cost does not indicate the potential decrease in gross domestic produce (GDP) that could result from the cap." If we are all making less money then we pay less in taxes ... right?  So in way this isn't really a tax increase.  We make less, we pay less,  I'm sure that somehow Congress can make that a tax cut!

Since the government is now competing against private enterprise in the automotive industry, I sincerely hope that Government Motors General Motors will be given some sort leeway on meeting the requirements imposed by the legislation. This will will give them a great advantge over those other evil private companies. Those folks who work in manufacturing plants or dealerships for other manufacturers better get on the ball if they want to compete!  Right?  Even if GM doesn't have any special advantage, those folks better shape up or prepare a resume!  I'm sure the economies of Ohio, Michigan, and other auto producing states will be be ble to provide plenty of good paying jobs for those lid off workers.

    Sincerely,
    A Concerned Voter

Oh thank you....and if they aren't too busy with taking apart the private enterprise system....let's make sure our health care system is a complete bomb as well. I'd happily pay more for less!

Dear Congress, please vote to clean up the air my grandchildren breathe.

Bob, you can lower your energy bill by just observing a few conservation techniques yourself.

Bob,

Lets just spend ourselves into depression. Hopefully we can stop this.

BLR Guy, worst economy which started in Dec. 2007, lest you forget it was started by the man who said he would like to be our dictator.  I'll take a king over a dictator any day.

As a good friend Craig on facebook posted this morning...

"Psst, c'mere. A little closer. Your energy bills are about to go through the roof. Your precious car may soon cost $7.00 per gallon to drive and your house may cost upwards of 90% more to heat and cool. Call your freaking reps and tell them that you demand that they vote NO on Cap and Trade."

Hey wouldn't you know it  a 300 page last min. amendment was added to the original bill this morning. How many do you think will actually read it before they vote!! Good idea may be to ask them when you call if they plan on reading what is in that amendment.

I don't want a King or a Dictator.  How about just some common sense in Congress?  Who are these people?

Terry... I love the way you seem to think that the average family can reduce their energy bill by $3000/year...  That is great.  For my family that would be a massive cut in energy usage...  Don't forget that this is legislation being pushed by a lobby that will make money on it...  And the head of that lobby is Al Gore.

Thanks for the laughs!  Even though this bill is enough to make one pull their hair out, you gave me a few chuckles!!

This bill won't "clean up the air" as some are silly enough to believe!  It will however  clean out pockets very well!!!

Al Gore is a blatant liar who has made $100M+ dollars off of Cape and Trade already.

Terry, a King is a dictator that thinks he is appointed by God...  So, not a great trade.  I'd rather have my guns.

Thanks for this article ... Good stuff ... Agree with others that Congress seems bent on taking apart our private enterprise system.

When US consumers learn the truth about this, they will not be happy to pay more money to get renewable energy, and eventually get less in return for their money.
