that was fun! thanks.  I admire and miss the gold old fashioned oratory of days gone by.

Makes you realize it is all a big show to Obama.

No different than using index cards.  Its a sign of the times.  I remember when the previous president used teleprompters, and he still couldn't speak articulate english.  Just because President Obama uses teleprompters in his speeches doesn't mean he can't speak.  Its a tool.

Hi everybody, thanks for the comments.  I have done a lot of public speaking and I love to hear a talented presenter.  Whether its a motivational speaker, preacher, or politician, it doesn't matter if I agree or disagree with their views I really appreciate a talented speaker.  President Obama is definitely talented.

As was pointed out in the piece he does have a tendency to "ah" and "uhm" when he is speaking impromptu. I think as a result of that he has come to over rely on the prompter.

Hey lets face MSNBC has not been to rough on the President.  This was more humor than hard hitting journalism.

An, I miss it too.

Alice, I agree but then aren't most politicians all about the show.  We live in a sound bite world where content can't be criticized.

Terry,  The difference is that a speaker would use index cards as "bullet points".  Much of the content would not be read word for word.  As I said above, I think the 'prompter actually takes away from President Obama's natural abilities.

BOB,

WHAT WOULD BE NICE WOULD BE IF HIS SPEECHES AND HIS ACTIONS HAD ANY RELEVANCE TO EACH OTHER

Bob,

Obama is all over the board with what he says and what he actually does.

What ever would he do if the teleprompter went on strike?

Thanks for the laugh! I enjoyed this piece.  His umm and ahhhs drive me nuts for someone that is such a gifted speaker.  By all means, let him use the teleprompter.  It's kinda like my dad use to tell me though...If someone made me sit on my hands, I wouldn't be able to say 2 words.  If O lost his teleprompter, then what for him?
